Your summer fun starts at Hugo House with a trip to the past and into the future! Ever wonder about time travel? Ever wish you could go back and change something; or maybe see what tomorrow and the next day and the day after have in store? Ever be deeply engrossed in the latest sci-fi thriller only to have it ruined by an implausible, even ridiculous time travel scenario? Ever get tripped up in your writing about time travel? My next class, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow: Writing Believable Time Travel In Sci-fi and Fantasy, is a class you won't want to miss. We will address the popular beliefs, myths and facts about time travel; look at the problems and pitfalls of traveling to another time; examine the writings of some of the best and most popular sci-fi writers in the business, plus have open discussions about our own beliefs and feelings on the subject. There will even be guest lecturers revealing how they make their own time travel tales believable and engaging.
Classes start Tuesday, July 18th, and run for six weeks, every Tuesday night, 7 til 9 PM, at Seattle's Hugo House. For more info, and to sign up click here to check out their site. But get on it... this promises to be a fun and popular class and will fill up soon. Don't be stuck in the past!
"Planet Alt-Sete-Nine: Princess Haylee is an exciting follow-up that seamlessly intertwines Haylee's journey of self-discovery and the repercussions for those she left behind." KJ McPike author of the Souls Untethered Saga

Stories Up For Consideration by BJ Neblett
Hello again. Just a quick note and request for your help. Two of my most popular stories, Seven Seconds and Rain At The Intersection Of Tomorrow are up for big time consideration. But I do need your help. Please take a minute to click the two links below and 'like' my stories. I'm not a big fan of this sort of thing, to me it is nothing more than a popularity contest...see how many votes a story gets before we look at it...but it is the first step, and an important one. It's quick, easy and painless. So, thanks ahead of time for your help. I'll keep you posted!

Time Travel, Writing, And New Releases by BJ Neblett
It's been a while and I can't believe April is almost over. Here in the great northwest we've had more than our share of showers. Not sure about anyone else, but I'm ready for some May flowers... as well as sunshine and warmer temperatures.
Something I am definitely ready for is a new semester of teaching at Hugo House, here in Seattle. This time around I'll be heading up a course titled Introduction To Fiction. Classes run for six weeks and are designed for the beginner, novice and more advanced writers. Join me Tuesdays, from 5 PM til 7 PM, starting May 23rd and running through June 27. This is a popular class and fills up quickly, so be sure to follow this link to sign up: Hugo House, Introduction To Fiction.
While you are registering for classes, you might want to keep this in mind. Starting July 18, I'll be teaching a new class: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, Writing About Time Travel In Fiction. This should be an exciting class, exploring the ins and outs, along with the pros and cons, and pitfalls of writing about time travel. We will discuss motifs, trends and personal opinions, as well as look at some classic time travel, from HG Wells to Star Trek to Steven King to Kelly Moore. Make plans now. Classes are Tuesdays at 7:10 PM until 9:10 PM, and start July 18. Check with Hugo House for more information and registration.
Finally, I am still looking for a summer/fall release for my alternate reality/fantasy novel Planet Alt Sete Nine. Of course we all know how publishers work... In the mean time, you can add another KJ McPike winner to your summer reading list. The next book in her YA/NA Fantasy Astralis series, Tenuous, is due out the end of May. This time and dimension traveling adventure continues the story of young Lali and Kai begun in Xodus and continued in Nemesis. You can pre-order Tenuous, as well as find all of my books on Amazon.com and in book stores.

Teaching, Writing, Editing, Softball and Poets by BJ Neblett
I have been feverishly editing my friend KJ McPike's new work, book two of her Astralis series. Tenuous is due out late spring and is turning into a great sequel to her award winning Young Adult novel Xodus. It's been a double edge sword as working on her new book has cut into my own writing time, and yet her work has been inspiring and filling me with new ideas for my own latest effort, Princess Haylee. It's book two and the sequel to Planet Alt-Sete-Nine, my own new contemporary fantasy due out this summer/fall. I love the image above and am considering using it and Alex Kie for illustrations. More to come on all this as well, so hang in there!
Despite the rain and cold I've bitten the bullet and returned to softball, what they are calling the "early spring league." Our first outing went well, just a few sprinkles, freezing cold (we play at 8 PM) and a 19 to 3 win. Let's hope this Wednesday is warmer if not drier!
Finally, with all I'm doing lately, I've been seriously neglecting my poetry blog, Here For A Season (the link is to the right). If there are any aspiring and/or established poets out there interested in a guest shot please contact me via my email: bjneblett@gmail.com Let me know a little about yourself and what type of poetry you write and we'll chat. I look forward to seeing some great work in future editions of Here For A Season.
Peace,
BJ
