Teaching, Writing, Editing, Softball and Poets by BJ Neblett

Just a brief note to bring you up to date and let all know I am still alive! It's been a crazy, busy new year so far. I recently finished teaching my Short Story and Shorter Stories class at Hugo House. It will be offered again soon. In the mean time I'll be teaching Intro To Fiction beginning May 23. And keep in mind I have a new class coming up in the summer about writing compelling and original time travel in fiction. Stay tuned for more details and dates/times.
I have been feverishly editing my friend KJ McPike's new work, book two of her Astralis series. Tenuous is due out late spring and is turning into a great sequel to her award winning Young Adult novel Xodus. It's been a double edge sword as working on her new book has cut into my own writing time, and yet her work has been inspiring and filling me with new ideas for my own latest effort, Princess Haylee. It's book two and the sequel to Planet Alt-Sete-Nine, my own new contemporary fantasy due out this summer/fall. I love the image above and am considering using it and Alex Kie for illustrations. More to come on all this as well, so hang in there!
Despite the rain and cold I've bitten the bullet and returned to softball, what they are calling the "early spring league." Our first outing went well, just a few sprinkles, freezing cold (we play at 8 PM) and a 19 to 3 win. Let's hope this Wednesday is warmer if not drier!
Finally, with all I'm doing lately, I've been seriously neglecting my poetry blog, Here For A Season (the link is to the right). If there are any aspiring and/or established poets out there interested in a guest shot please contact me via my email: bjneblett@gmail.com Let me know a little about yourself and what type of poetry you write and we'll chat. I look forward to seeing some great work in future editions of Here For A Season.
Peace,
BJ

New Book Release And A Retraction

My new memoir, Ice Cream Camelot has been released as a paperback, although it may be ten days to two weeks before it is available in book stores and on line including Amazon.com.
But more importantly, the back cover of the book and the press release contain a quote attributed to, but not from author KJ McPike. KJ is a talented writer, with two great must read Young Adult books currently out: Xodus and Nemesis, both available through Amazon. KJ's quote should have read: "Neblett paints a vivid picture of the 1960s that will make readers feel like they are right there with him."

Peace,
BJ

New Must Read From A New Author! by BJ Neblett

“The lives of a man are measured in his dreams.” That quote is from my new romance story Wind. More than just a romantic notion, what we dream, awake as well as asleep, says much about the person. Or, as Edgar Allen Poe put it: “They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.” (Eleonora) I recently had the pleasure of meeting and working with a wonderful dreamer, KJ McPike. Besides being able to call KJ, or Kelly my friend, it was my honor to help edit her first novel. Xodus is first in the Astralis series of books. In this thrilling initial installment, young Lali discovers she is capable of astral projection. Soon, with the assistance of a strange new acquaintance, the teen is off on an exciting and perilous journey to find her long lost mother.
KJ has crafted an original and thought provoking first effort with the skill of a veteran writer. With well fleshed characters, believable action and thought provoking twists, she manages to keep the plot moving and the pages turning. At story’s conclusion, readers are left fully satisfied yet wanting more. And book two is well in the works. While labeled YA, or Young Adult Fiction, Xodus will appeal to a wide range of readers, young to old, of all genres.
Xodus by KJ McPike is rated PG-13 and is published by Terracotta Rose Publishing, and is available through Amazon and book stores everywhere. For more information on Xodus, the Astralis Series and KJ McPike simple follow the links below.
Look for a new story as well as information on my own future publications right here shortly.
